Pedestrian Crossing Mitcham Rd/Primark

07:58 Mar 1 2012 Corner of Micham Road and Ashvale Road

Description
I cross this road at least twice a day and have noticed that traffic whether busses, cars, lorries, vans or bikes seem to ignore the red signal. Yesterday morning a blind man was nearly run over when a car chose to run the red light when the audio signal for safe crossing was already sounding. Had there not been another member of the public with the gentleman to pull him back to safety he would have been hit. Generally the crossing is blocked daily, by traffic who don't seem to think that blocking it matters - try manoeuvring a buggy in between cars, hardly safe. I've highlighted this to TFL who are in charge of the traffic light and Wandsworth council who said that until there were a number of accidents they wouldn't consider putting in cameras.
